WhoKnew™ grew out of decades of building things on the web — from creative work and server infrastructure to running actual stores and feeling the gaps firsthand. We didn’t discover eCommerce. We evolved into it.
The Foundation
30 Years of Web Development. One Focused Suite.
The experience behind WhoKnew™ goes back to 1996 — a time when building for the web meant figuring it out as you went. Our roots are creative ones. The people behind this company came up through design, photography, and digital media before the tools existed to make any of it easy.
Along the way that meant learning servers, because you had to. Linux, Apache, Red Hat, Fedora, Ubuntu — not out of ideology but out of necessity. You built the thing, and then you had to keep it running. From 2003 to 2007, that included server infrastructure and web development at a large university, alongside freelance work for clients who needed websites that actually worked.
WordPress wasn’t a pivot — it was just what came next. When the platform matured enough to build serious things on, we built serious things on it. WooCommerce followed. So did the plugins, the client work, the stores. The tools changed. The instinct to build something that works didn’t.
Our team’s background also includes roles in public sector and government-adjacent environments where data security and access control were operational requirements — not afterthoughts. That shaped how we think about protection at a product level.
WhoKnew™ came out of running stores, feeling the gaps, and building what we needed. Not a startup pitch — just people who’ve been doing this long enough to know what’s actually missing.
