Privacy Policy
Date of last modification: May 22, 2026
Who We Are Our website address is: https://whoknew.io. This Privacy Policy applies to WhoKnew™, the operator of whoknew.io, and all related services, including the WhoKnew Views™ and WhoKnew Shield™ plugins and related suite (collectively “we,” “us,” “our,” or “WhoKnew™”). To learn more about WhoKnew™, visit: https://whoknew.io/about.
This Privacy Policy describes how we protect the personal information of our customers, job applicants, and visitors (collectively, our “users”) who use our websites, emails, job application services, platforms, products, services, and plugins (collectively, the “Services”). It explains how your personal information is collected, disclosed, and used by us, as well as the related data rights you may have.
This Privacy Policy does not apply to personal data collected or disclosed by users who manage the data of others while using our Services (e.g., data collected by WooCommerce store owners using WhoKnew™ plugins).
Categories of Information We Collect About You While using our Services, we may obtain information about you as described below.
Information You Voluntarily Provide to Us We collect the following information when you provide it to us:
- Information you provide during registration or purchase processes, such as your name, email address, phone number, billing address, or payment information (e.g., when purchasing our Pro plan for $14/month or $79/year).
- Information you provide as a job candidate during the application process (e.g., resume, certifications).
- Information you provide when contacting us for support via email, phone, or ticket system (e.g., your city, country, IP address, operating system, and device details).
- Information you provide while using our Services, such as through emails, phone calls, or support tickets (e.g., via our Customer Portal).
- Payment information, including credit card data and billing address, when you purchase our Services (e.g., Pro, Growth, or Agency plans).
- When you submit a free trial signup form, we collect your name, email address, website URL, and IP address. Your IP address is collected solely for abuse prevention purposes — specifically to enforce the one-trial-per-person policy — and is not used for advertising or shared with third parties.
Information We Collect About Your Usage and Devices We may collect data relating to your activity on our website, including:
- Your IP address, browser type and version, geographic location, operating system, and device identifiers.
- How you arrived at our website (e.g., referral URL) and any links you click to leave.
- Pages you view and interactions with content, such as videos (e.g., our explainer video on whoknew.io).
- When you update your information, communicate with us, or order new Services (e.g., upgrading to the Growth plan for $27/month).
- Metadata about your use of our Services, including email interactions (e.g., clicks and opens).
- Issues you encounter requiring our support (e.g., setup issues with WhoKnew™ plugins). We store this data in our infrastructure, including system logs, databases, and analytics systems.
- WhoKnew Intelligence™ Threat Data. If you use WhoKnew Shield™ Pro with WhoKnew Intelligence™ enabled, hostile IP addresses detected on your site are automatically and anonymously contributed to the WhoKnew Intelligence™ shared threat network. This is a condition of accessing the community blocklist. No visitor personal data beyond the flagged IP address and the submitting licence/domain is collected or shared. Users may opt out of WhoKnew Intelligence™ at any time via plugin settings, which will disable both contribution and access to the shared blocklist. Users who do not use WhoKnew Shield™ Pro are unaffected.
- WhoKnew Directory SEO™ Plugin Data. When you use the WhoKnew Directory SEO™ plugin to run a keyword scan or readme analysis, the following data is transmitted to whoknew.io’s servers: your site’s root domain (used as an anonymous, non-personal identifier for API credit tracking), the plugin slug being scanned, and the keyword you are scanning. This data is used solely to perform the requested analysis, record API credit usage against your service tier, and return results to the plugin for display. Pro users additionally transmit a licence key and a signed JWT token for authentication and service tier verification. No visitor data, email addresses, IP addresses, or personally identifiable information about you or your site’s visitors is collected or transmitted during plugin operation. The keyword, plugin slug, and domain identifier transmitted during a scan are used to perform the requested analysis in real time. Search results may be cached on whoknew.io’s servers for up to 6 hours to improve performance — no personally identifiable information is retained in that cache.
- WhoKnew Signal™ Web Push Notifications.
This site uses WhoKnew Signal™ to deliver web push notifications. When you choose to subscribe, your browser generates a unique, opaque subscription token (a push endpoint URL) stored only in our database on this server. No third party receives or processes that token. We also record browser type, device platform (e.g. Windows, macOS, Android, iOS), and the date you subscribed. We do not collect your name, email address, or IP address for push subscriptions. If you are logged in when you subscribe, we may link that browser token to your existing WordPress account on this site so account-related notifications (such as order updates) can reach this device. This uses an account reference that this site already holds; we do not gather additional identity information. Your subscription data is never sold or shared with external parties for marketing.
Your subscription is voluntary and based on consent through your browser permission prompt. You may withdraw consent at any time by removing notification permissions for this site in your browser settings (locate https://whoknew.io). Logging out on this browser removes the link between the subscription and your WordPress account on this device; revoking browser notification permission stops delivery. For subscriptions that were never linked to an account, we cannot match push records to you by name or email alone. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of notifications sent before you withdrew.
Comments When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.
Media If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Information We Acquire from Social Media We collect information (e.g., your name, social media account name, and email address) from third-party social networking sites when you use your social media credentials to log into our Services or interact with features like social sharing (e.g., on whoknew.io). You can control your privacy settings on the respective social networking site.
Information We Acquire from Other Sources We also collect:
- Information you provide at events, webinars, or to our partners.
- Information you provide in surveys or feedback forms.
- Publicly available information.
- Information from third parties with your consent (e.g., demographic data for analytics purposes). We may collect demographic information (e.g., zip code, age) to improve our Services, ensure users are at least 18 years old for purchases, and provide personalized content. This data may be shared with partners on an aggregated, non-identifiable basis.
Cookies If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded Content from Other Websites Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

We use payment information (e.g., credit card data) solely to facilitate payments for our Services. We may also use your data to produce aggregated reports on trends, such as email open rates or plugin usage statistics, which we share with partners in a non-identifiable format, and no financial information is saved on our servers.
Who We Share Your Data With We may disclose your personal information to third-party partners, such as marketing and analytics providers, to:
- Assist in providing our Services (e.g., analytics for plugin performance).
- Contact you with offers or products that may interest you (subject to your consent where required). If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
Communicating with Third-Party Service Providers and Vendors We may contract with third parties to assist in servicing you (e.g., providing customer support, fraud detection, or IT services) or to support our marketing efforts (e.g., analytics and SEO services). These third parties are contractually prohibited from using your personal information beyond the purpose for which it was disclosed. If you purchase a third-party product through our website, we may pass your information to that third party to fulfill your order.
Communicating with Resellers WhoKnew™ may process customer personal data on behalf of trusted resellers (e.g., via WooCommerce Marketplace or CodeCanyon). In such cases, the reseller is the data controller, and WhoKnew™ is the data processor, with obligations outlined in our reseller agreements. Resellers can submit data subject access requests on behalf of their customers by contacting us at 83c7287f@1783d7df.com. All data collected through these relationships is handled per this Privacy Policy.
Corporate Reorganizations If we undergo a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email or a prominent notice on whoknew.io of any such transfer and any choices you may have regarding your information.
Authorized Users Users authorized by you to access your account (e.g., team members managing your WooCommerce store) can view personal information stored in the account. We use this information only for legitimate purposes, such as servicing your account and marketing our Services to you.
Legal Process We may disclose your personal information if legally required or if we believe it’s necessary to:
- Comply with courts, public authorities, or law enforcement (e.g., to meet national security requirements).
- Conduct investigations, respond to subpoenas or court orders, bring legal action, or prevent harm.
- Address violations of our terms, harm to others, or violations of applicable law. To the extent permitted, we’ll notify you if we’re required to disclose your information to third parties in connection with legal processes.
Security The transmission of information via the internet or email is not completely secure. While we take appropriate measures to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its security during transmission; any transmission is at your own risk. Once received, we implement technical and organizational safeguards to protect your data against loss, theft, unauthorized access, or modification.
Tracking Technologies and Online Advertising We use cookies, web beacons, pixels, tags, and similar technologies to enhance your experience on our website. For details on these technologies, their purposes (e.g., online advertising), and how to control them, see our Cookie Notice at https://whoknew.io/cookies.
Analytics & Cookies (GDPR compliance)

hashed browser fingerprint (anonymized).
Retention: ~5 hours to 90 days, depending on cookie type.
Legal Basis: Legitimate interest (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)) for analytics and site improvement.
Choice/Opt-Out Marketing Communications from Us We may contact you for transactional purposes (e.g., billing notifications) or to deliver service-related communications (e.g., support updates). We may also contact you with marketing offers for additional services if you’ve given consent or if permitted by legitimate interests. You do not need to consent to marketing communications to use our Services.
- Email: Opt out of marketing emails by clicking the unsubscribe link in the footer of our emails or emailing 63f76c18@f679d009.com. Transactional communications (e.g., account notifications) will continue unless you cancel your account per our Terms of Service at https://whoknew.io/terms.

We will retain your data for no more than seven years following the termination of your use of our Services, unless required by law to retain it longer (e.g., for tax or regulatory purposes). Job applicant data is retained as long as there’s a business need or as required by law.
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Laws in these jurisdictions may differ from those in your country. We may also process data through staff or suppliers in other countries (e.g., for customer support). For transfers outside your region, we implement safeguards to comply with applicable privacy laws. Contact our Data Protection Officer at 63f76c18@f679d009.com for more details on these safeguards.
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
